Slide the stopper way beyond the expected depth and cast it out. As soon as the lead ball has arrived at the bottom, reel it in, keeping the line taut at the same time. The float will remain where it is and indicate the exact depth to you. Now the stopper just needs to be pushed onto the float and the bait will lure perfectly. Matze uses about two thirds of the recommended load-bearing capacity.
